Monique Frydman
Date of birth : 1943
Country : france
French painter.
After studying at the Fine Arts School in Toulouse, Frydman moved to Paris and met François Rouan and Pierre Buraglio. In 1967 and 1968 she made political paintings. In around 1972, she returned to abstract art with small-scale drawings using pencil and charcoal or chalk on paper.
She also made etchings and lithographs, alongside her painting.
The classical pictorial elements such as the format, material, and base are present in this work. The size of the work is unusual, and on the long strip of cotton canvas are layers of colour, pigments or pastels without drawing, which suggest a return to sources of painting.
