Having studied at the school of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Carmen Miquel's work has regularly been on display since 1981. She describes her recent work as “small fragments of nature on a large scale”, destined to obtain a feeling of fullness.
The paintings displayed here show how the design highlights the zones of colour. The influence of Monet’s Water Lilies is evident in the use of liquid harmonies. The objects represented - fruit - become almost abstract symbols. The painting sways between the representation of the world and the emotions the artist evokes.
