Pablo Tomek spends time developing his skills in his workshop, where he intertwines the legacy of graffiti and abstract expressionist painting. At the same time, he uses blue-collar techniques and aesthetics (remixing whiting, creating rough blockwork sculptures with mortar in washed-out colours, appropriating Day-Glo marks left by architects or objects discarded in the street) to dig out a new language, often left unfinished, at the crossroads of the margins of painting and urban renovation, against a backdrop of institutionalisation and gentrification.
