Acrylic on Komacel
Used in the building industry, Komacel is a white PVC board that Rémy Hysbergue has adopted instead of the more traditional canvas. Likewise, the technique employed in the series exhibited here eludes the classic
concept of a painting. Having laid out a network of adhesive tape on the support, Rémy Hysbergue spreads paint over it with a spatula. Once the tape has been removed, the unpainted areas that form the “subject”
of the painting appear in the hollows, while the “background” paradoxically rises to the foreground of the painting.
