In this series comprising variations on a single theme, each photograph features a traditional Persian carpet and the sea. The rug is shown floating on the surface of the water, unrolled on the seabed, standing upright like a mast or, as here, transformed into a bridge stretching towards the horizon. References and symbols give rise to countless ways of reading this motif from Persian mythology lightheartedly revisited by Jalal Sepehr. Enough perhaps to invent 1001 interpretations of these floating carpets!
