He lives and works in Los Angeles. Joe Reihsen got his BFA in Painting and New Genres from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2005, and his MFA in 2008 from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he won a UC Regents Fellowship scholarship.
Reihsen's paintings are marked by optical illusions and vibrant, detailed polymer clay overlays which, through their shape, often overcome the physical limitations of the canvas surface.
