Julien Des Monstiers studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he trained under Jean-Michel Alberola, graduating in 2008. He lives and works in Paris. He won the Prix Marin in 2015.
Julien des Monstiers pushes the boundaries between fine and applied art. He has radicalised his approach in recent years, today focusing on the concept of tautology in painting. His paintings are by nature two-dimensional, but the artist nonetheless seeks to illustrate depth, layers, textures, and folds.
