A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Rouen,
Manon Pellan is an artist living in the Paris area. The graphite pencil is at
the core of her practice: if she uses colours, it is always to highlight a
contrast with the white of the background and the pencil’s graphic line. The
meticulous care given to the details gives the whole a sense of abstraction: it
creates a space revealing the texture of dreams, fabric, or a presence, and
highlighting the void, the cracks where the artist wonders and questions the
medium itself.
Usually, Manon Pellan bases the reflections
feeding her work on elements of her daily life. Evoking frailty, absence,
intimacy, fear, emptiness, and repulsion, her drawings are testimonies to our
passage, and ultimately, to our death.
