Born in 1992 in Paris, France.
After a first year spent experimenting with
different techniques when she enrolled at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Sophia Fassi
focused on painting and drawing, working from nature, and assisting painter
Léonard Combier in his work during an internship. She graduated from the
school, where classes by James Bloedé and François René Martin made a crucial
impression on her, in 2020, and now lives and works in Paris. Her works are
often intimate portraits of relatives or strangers made in oil paints from
photographs. The sharpness of the pose highlights the poetry of the moment
shared between the artist and her subject. She also paints bigger compositions
where plenty of characters with striking expressions are in motion, carefully
elaborated together and forming a coherent picture.
