German photographer, born in Essen in 1946.
Hannappel worked a lot in France for the DATAR photographic mission, but preferred the landscapes of the more northern countries. These bitter and desolate panoramas reveal a network of fine and essential signs hidden in the natural elements.
His photos bring out the signal-like and graphic impact of nature, reinforced by the use of black and white and the omission of any anecdotes.
