Born in 1986 in Paris, France.
A graduate from the ENSAV La Cambre in
Brussels, Ymane Chabi-Gara discovered her passion for painting at the beginning
of her studies. After a few years of travelling and several exhibitions, she
entered the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2016, then left for Tokyo in 2018 to be an
exchange student at the Musashino Art University for six months. There, she
deepened her understanding of contemporary Japanese society and found the
inspiration for her works, notably her “Hikikomori” series, which was exhibited
at Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles (Labo_demo #2) and in the window of the Galerie
Zlotowski in Paris in 2020. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in
October 2020, supported by her two supervisors: painter Marc Desgranchamps and
visual artist Joann Sfar.
