In an interview, Claire de Virieu said, “I have always had an emotional relationship with nature and the very strong desire to re-transcribe this emotion. Gardens are a subject in which there is no artifice and the photograph does not interfere. The essential element is simply in the observation, in waiting for the magical moment where the light creates the image, or the garden reveals a piece of its soul.”
As her teacher and friend, Edouard Boubat, said, “The garden is the studio for Claire de Virieu. She lets the light work its magic and then she captures the moment.”
