Growing up in Hong Kong, a city that is built on different cultures, she often sees the world as her home and vice versa, her home as the world. In her newly developed series of paintings she aims to create a wonderland that combines iconic elements of different cities representing various cultures, such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Osaka, London, Seoul or New York.
Born in 1996 in Hong Kong.
Elaine Chiu explores architectural forms, memories, and identities of urban environments with paintings, on-location sketching, and community projects. Elaine attained a Bachelor’s degree in art history at the University of Hong Kong in 2018, where she received the Talent Development Scholarship (2015) and Out Reaching Award (2016) from the Hong Kong SAR Government. Her work explores the different facets of urban planning.
